Today people are beginning to recognize the importance of fitness in improving their physical health. Due to our sedentary lifestyle, irregular eating habits and pollution majority of people have greater risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, asthma etc. Exercising daily has become one of the essential components of our daily routine. Selecting proper mode of exercise as per your body type, body composition, fitness level, medical condition, family medical history, availability of time and equipment, working conditions and your lifestyle, goals (whether you want to reduce weight or want to participate in any particular sport or just want to maintain your fitness level) is very crucial. A certified fitness professional can guide you properly and will plan your exercise routine taking into consideration all these points. Exercise is not just any physical activity which may or may not result in caloric expenditure. It is a planned, structured, repetitive, coordinated muscular movements aimed toward improving or maintaining one or more components of fitness. We will discuss these components of fitness in later issue. Most of us think that if we are not over weight or obese we don’t need to exercise. Or persons suffering from any disease or have occurred any injury can’t exercise. Every individual whether he/she is thin or fat; healthy or suffering from disease need to exercise. Even people suffering from Heart disease, Arthritis, some cancers, joint replacement surgeries can exercise (after seeking their doctor’s approval) and can lead normal and healthy life. There are innumerable benefits of regular exercise out of which just few will be listed in the upcoming posts. With regular exercise eating right is also as much important. A good healthy balanced diet is that which has all the macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients in proportion, which is easily available and which can be followed for lifetime.
